Minutes Asia Meeting

  • Organizational update
    • Dev-Ops lead to join Linaro on 17 June 2019. 
    • Gema Gomez-Solano is moving on 7 June 2019. Linaro appreciates her many contributions during her tenure at Linaro. 
    • LInaro has suspended Huawei membership and disengaged
      • Arm following a similar disengagement.
      • This is a fluid situation that continues to be understood.  
  • Responses on US entity ban by other forums
    • Linux Foundation has not taken a restrictive policy.  They believe since all their work is in the open, they could still obtain the same information. 
    • Same goes for KubeCon summit in Shanghai in a couple weeks not restricting. 
    • CCIX has stopped all technical discussions while they decide how to respond.  
    • PCI-SIG has suspended Huawei and is continuing technical meetings without Huawei. 
    • UEFI has stopped all technical discussions while they decide how to respond.   
    • Openstack has stopped all interactions with Huawei. 
  • CCIX Engagement by Members
    • Slow down especially due to the US entity ban with Huawei. 
  • DCV
    • Continue or not?

      • Arm would like to see DCV to see it move forward.  He may have a person to assist. 
    • Projects to add?  
      • Arm:  Zlib
  • CNCF
    • Arm has interest in CNCF.    Arm has Packet handling CI for all of CNCF. 
    • Arm suggests interest only in fixing specific projects
      • Kubernetes and ETCD is complete
      • Helm??  Andy to review and follow up with LDCG SC for specific guidance. 
  • OpenBMC
    • Fujitsu:  does not need it. 
    • Socionext:  Kiyoshi will check with office
  • CXL
    • Andy will defer to CXL.  Generally in favor of Linaro joining. 
    • Fujitsu and Socionext is not engaged with CXL. 
    • Vote on whether Linaro should join CXL to be done via email. 

Minutes US Meeting

  • US ban of Huawei - new
    • Trusted Firmware is suspending all Huawei participation. 
    • Red Hat has disengaged. 
    • CCIX has suspended Huawei until further notice. 
    • Jon has escalated to LF about not restricting it. 
  •  CCIX
    • Red Hat says CCIX has real challenges since the ban on Huawei. 
    • There are other unannounced interested parties. 
    • Marvell:  investment in CCIX at this time might not be the right time.  Suggest investing in anything else but this at the moment.  
    • LDCG SC to H
  • CXL
    • Red Hat is joining.  Wants to see one interconnect and believes CXL will continue to get traction. 
    • Marvell is reviewing
    • As long as there is no cost to Linaro, we're not setup to do that.  Does not want to see a resource assigned yet. 
    • Elsie invite Dong to get Arm position. 
    • Jon would ask for a discount and support 
    • Marvell says if Linaro is to join that we really want to pursue it.  Determine strategy for accelerators.
    • Does it affect other teams in Linaro? Elsie follow-up with Andrea re: AI
  • Does Packet have Huawei systems?
  • DCV:  Sandbox for Aarch64
    • Marvell:  What is the tax on Linaro?  
    • Red Hat:  See's value if it's constrained to the sandbox. 
    • Linaro:  Talk to Arm - OSEC
  • Larry @ Marvell - wants us to consider Valgrind.  Arm cannot work on it.   There were some discussions in the past.
