  • SVE Enablement for QEMU (Takeharu Kato, Fujitsu)

    • Above slides presented

Kanta : Need to prioritise this and to push to prioritise through TSC since the virtualisation team are a Core teams which facilitates requirements from all segments

    • Elsie : Is QEMU in general or SVE

      • Kanta: SVE specifically for HPC

    • Elsie : Vote as Yes

    • Christoffer : Fast model vs QEMU

    • Elsie: Fast models have associated licenses and thus preference is the use of QEMU for development

    • David A : +1 Need QEMU, We have a very distributed use.

    • Grant : Can we identify application which can go side with QEMU. looking for not only enabling the feature but also software that also using this feature

    • David A: We have a set of applications that we use at CERN and that could be potentially used, common filter application.

    • Renato : As SVE spec is not out yet. Need to solve boot strap problem.

    • Kanta : First step could be take spec and implement QEMU, have good testbed. When SVE enablement in QEMU and you need specific application

    • Christoffer : We need to work on that. Not able to run any ARM suites on QEMU.

    • Renato : ARM may have libraries and benchmark for SVE. For QEMU can interact with ARM for more detail information.

    • Darren : Can see several use cases and most of them are open source. But can also look for open source for specific ones

    • Kanta : Will send the formal email for SVE enablement for QEMU prioritization with applications/use cases and push to TSC.

      • Will work with Martin/Christoffer

      • Members to provide list of any specific application

  • SIG meetings:

    • Topics

      • Request for technical topics for the next meetings

      • Larry: Coordination with ARM & ensure no overlap. And effectiveness of Resources

    • Next meeting 11th April

      • Eric & Darren to provide an update on openHPC and ARM activities
