Signing In
These instructions primarily apply to users who have had their account created as a result of:
the migration from Mailman 2 to Mailman 3 or
subscribing to a list via email (e.g. listname-subscribe@mailman-server-domain) or
subscribing to a list via the web user interface
and now want to manage their account.
The Linaro Mailman 3 servers support three ways of signing in:
Account created within a specific Mailman server
Linaro Single Sign On (SSO)
Google authentication
First Time Signing In
If you have not already signed in to your account on a given Linaro Mailman server, it is first necessary to associate that account with your preferred method of authentication:
If you want to use the account created on the specific Mailman server (rather than Google or Linaro SSO), click on the
button and you will be taken to a form where you need to provide your email address and desired password. Your username should be entered as your email address. Click on the
Sign Up
button and you will receive an email to confirm your account. You can then sign in.If you want to authenticate with Google or Linaro SSO, click on the
button and then click on
Google
orLinaro SSO
as appropriate.
When authenticating with Google, the username defaults to your first name in lowercase. It is strongly recommended that this is changed to your email address. This can be done by going to https://<mail server URL/user-profile/
, entering the email address in the Username
field and clicking on Update
.
Linking Additional Email Addresses
Your username on a Mailman 3 server is your email address. It is possible to link additional email addresses to your account so that Mailman understands that each of the email addresses belong to the same address rather than creating multiple accounts, which would get messy.
Go to
https://<mail server URL>/accounts/email/
Enter an additional email address into the
E-mail
field and click onAdd E-mail
.
A confirmation email will be sent to the email address. Once you receive that email and follow the instructions, the address will be marked as Verified
.
When you have multiple email addresses associated with one account, you can select which one is Primary
. This is the address that notifications are sent to.
Connecting Accounts
As explained above, it is possible to authenticate via three different methods. Mailman only allows an email address to be associated with one account so, if you want to authenticate via multiple methods, it is necessary to connect the accounts together.
To do this, sign in to the Mailman server then click on your name in the top-right corner and select Account
from the menu:
Then click on the Account Connections
tab. You will see this section:
Clicking on either button will associate that authentication method with your Mailman account.
If you wish to, you can remove the connection by selecting the authentication method and then clicking on Remove
