Minutes

  • Data Center Group project updates
    • Tensorflow (TENS)
      • Working on 2.15 release.
      • Build moved from clang 16 to clang 17 due to CUDA requirements that do not directly affect Arm).
      • Test coverage was reduced because OpenXLA, which was part of the Tensorflow project, has been moved to a separate project now, as it is used by other projects as well, such as JAX. Some work will be required to bring OpenXLA back to the CI infrastructure.
    • Deploy CCA on Arm Platforms (DCAP)
      • On the low level side, focus has been on understanding the various firmware components that make the system architecture, including secure world hypervisor (Hafnium). This is needed in order to map the work that has been done in the FVP model to the QEMU emulated environment.
      • Working on a new git repository that will provide scripts that will be capable of building and running a complete CCA software stack from end-to-end.
      • On the high level side, we are working on a new rust-ccatoken library. This will expose some of the functions that are currently implemented in Veraison and that are needed in order to implement CCA token verification inside Confidential Containers (CoCo).
      • Updated roadmap:
        •
    • Big Data & Data Science (BDDS)
      • Working on release 3.3.
      • Linaro is building an offer for BigTop and BDDS projects support for interested companies.
    • Storae (STOR)
      • Lustre: continued support for openEuler 20.03 LTS released (based on Linux 4.19), now with CI tests running.
    • Ecosystem dashboard
      • Arm partners requested Arm to build a common source of information on projects that run on Arm. I am working with Arm to understand the requirements and see if what we did in the past can address some of their needs.
  • Strategy and direction for 2024
    • Google
    • Arm
  • Events
    • OCP Global Summit: October 17-19, 2023, San Jose, CA, USA
      • Leonardo Garcia and Jon Masters attended.
      • AI, AI, AI...
        • Huge data center infrastructure investments predicted for the next few years.
      • Contrary to last year, there was a very good presence of Arm, with lots of talks, very good representation, and a big booth.
      • I attended lots of talks on firmware and some talks on chiplets.
        • On firmware, focus was more on OpenBMC and CoreBoot/LinuxBoot.
        • On chiplets, I saw less traction that in previous conferences. Not because the topic is not important, but because there has been a transition from hype to real deployments, and the OCP standard has not been widely adopted. IEEE and UCIe seem to be more prevalent.
    • Linaro Partner Meeting: November 6-9, 2023, San Francisco, CA, USA
      • In-person Data Center Group steering committee meeting on Thursday afternoon, at 10 PM UTC (2 PM USA Pacific time).
    • Supercomputing SC23: November 12-17, 2023, Denver, CO, USA
      • Kamatsuka-san attending.
    • Linux Plumbers Conference: November 13-15, 2023, Richmond, VA, USA
      • Confidential Computing microconference.
      • Leonardo Garcia, Jon Masters, and Jonathan Cameron will be attending. Linaro will have 10+ attendees and at least 4 presentations.
    • Any other events where we could collaborate or where you think Linaro should do a demo or present.
