Project updates
Deploy CCA on Arm Platforms (CCA)
Updates since last meeting:
Device assignment
Continued engagement with Arm. Good progress with TDISP and QEMU patches. Attestation not yet covered by the patches.
Kata containers
Re-enabled Kata K8s CI for Arm64, which was a requirement from the community to analyze the patches to add CCA support on Kata containers.
libvirt
Fujitsu continues their community work on adding CCA support on libvirt. Some changes are required in QEMU and we are discussing how to add these changes in the repository Linaro maintains with all the patches needed to run the CCA software stack.
OpenStack Nova
Fujitsu started to work on adding CCA support on OpenStack Nova.
Veraison:
Add async support to rust-apiclient.
CI
After building a plan and presenting it to Linaro engineering, feedback for now is that we cannot afford the necessary engineering effort to implement the CI. We will get back to this discussion in a couple of months.
Next tasks:
Add support for RME 1.1 new features in the CCA software stack:
Device assignment.
Memory Encryption.
Planes.
Kata containers:
Fix an issue where Kata with QEMU fails to launch an Arm guest (even non-confidential guests) with Kata Runtime-rs.
Standards
Continue the work on CCA Token standardization.
Organizing the Endorsement API Hackathon that will happen just before Linaro Connect.
Performance Optimization (PO)
Updates since last meeting:
4 interviews, 2 candidates short listed.
Trying to convince Linaro engineering team to hire both, but will extend offer to only one of them for now.
Next tasks:
Present an offer to a candidate by next week.
Additional discussion:
Jon asked about the back log for the project. Leonardo mentioned that this was last presented in last September in the Data Center Group steering committee meeting. Just look for teh section named "Performance optimization status and back log" in the 2024-09-26 Linaro Data Center Group steering committee Meeting Agenda/Minutes.
System Ready Compliant Platform Collaboration (SRCPC)
Updates since last meeting:
Project closed.
Big Data and Data Science (BDDS):
Updates since last meeting:
Bigtop Manager:
Adjusted APIs related to service creation for UI needs.
Gluten
Fixed build issues.
Fixed a buffer overflow bug that was happening on Arm64.
Velox
Submitted patches to fix issues.
Next tasks:
Bigtop Manager
Release version 1.0.0.
Gluten
Enablement of Arm64 CI in the community.
Enhanced Software-Defined-Storage on Arm Servers (STOR)
Updates since last meeting:
Various investigations summarized in documents:
Ceph SPDK NVMf gateway performance.
SPDK status.
Alibaba Cloud Storage solutions.
JuiceFS
Investigated Arm64 support status.
Enabled JuiceFS to run on Arm64.
SPDK
Identified what CI jobs are currently running on Arm64 so that we can expand the CI if needed.
Next tasks:
JuiceFS
Analyze and eventually fix some performance issues found.

Super edge devices
Kangkang asked whether super edge devices, such as the NVIDIA GDX, would be a topic for discussion in the Linaro Edge Group or in the Linaro Data Center Group.
Leonardo said that he thinks this is a Data Center Group discussion, as these devices are very similar to servers, and quite different from traditional embedded devices.
In particular, Jon is interested to discuss how shared memory support in Linux is progressing in these devices. Jonathan mentioned that a good portion of the supported is being worked already. We all agreed to discuss more on this topic in the next meetings.
