  • Topic 2
  • AOB
  • Minutes

    notes here

      • Discussion
        • Slides shared before meeting
        • Server Ready - Grant Likely, Arm
          • similar model for “Standards Collaborate”
          • Grant and Tomas will work offline in a breakout meeting after this call
          • Anyone willing to help contribute is welcome
        • Software Model - Graeme Gregory and Shashi Mallela, Linaro
          • Looking at the emulation model for smartNIC in QEMU connected to another QEMU model for the host. This way, we can experiment with OVS and NFV offload and better instrument
          • Based on analysis and prototyping for now
          • Sam Fuller: familiar with QEMU but it is the first time we hear about using QEMU for this
          • Jonathan Cameron: this is very useful to simulate new hardware, using it a lot
          • Peter Puhov: using QEMU to simulate Arm platforms on x86
          • Graeme: we will create a dedicated page in Collaborate and invite people to contribute
        • Lifecycle - Al Stone, Red Hat
          • Not seen any progress on this yet
          • Grant also interested in progressing this and will ping Al to sort terminology
          • Al confirms willingness and interest. Leave it with Al to schedule next steps. (Breakout calls, details, etc.)
        • Security - Sam Fuller, NXP
          • Not seen any progress on this yet
          • Randy: has initial comment/input from Sam been incorporated into the page?
          • Sam: seen a new Google Doc template, shall we use that?
          • Graeme: we can start with comments in the mailing list and in collaborate, then we can use that to populate the Google Doc and present it to the project committee
          • Grant: we need to finalize the work scope and what we’re going to be doing. (Voting on, working on, etc.) Wants to make sure we’ve identified valuable features we’re making meaningful progress on.
          • Sam: will help refine list within process & template.
        • Storage - Li Wan, Futurewei  (Xilinx?)
          • Not seen any progress on this yet
          • Li: based on previous discussions, Futurewei and Xilinx are both interested in this. Xilinx appeared to have broader scope so anxious to sync and willing to enlarge the scope of this initiative
          • Schedule a Breakout meeting - Li-Futurewei, Xilinx as critical attendees.
          • Randy will reach out to Xilinx and find the right contact, then help arrange Futurewei/Xilinx/others breakout.
        • Dataplane - Maciek, Cisco
          • Graeme to raise this again on Thurs. Asia call.
        • AOB? -
          • Sam liked that slides were shared beforehand
          • Suggests “progress/tracking” slide to monitor progress (Grant and Graeme like this)
            • Yes
          • Andrea: should we share a summary table on: interests, proposed by, contributors, etc. (Graeme likes this and intended this.)
            • Yes

      • Grant: We need to share info across the two calls. (Wed/Thur) and share critical updates.

      • Grant: Would a “How Linaro Works?” session be helpful or needed?
        • Sam, Stephen H., Yes, high-level summary would be helpful. (Separate meeting, optional attendance) (Randy & Andrea to help schedule)
      • Jonathan: relative to initial schedule, how are things progressing?
        • Grant: We’re tracking 1 week behind initial schedule. We started with the proposal call, we discussed the list of initiatives, then the project structure, we have now had two technical calls on the initiatives
        • Grant: next week we shall have some kind of mid term health check
