Minutes

  • GOMP vs LLVM libomp investigation (Paul Osmialowski, ARM)

    • Paul provided an overview of the findings on usage of GOMP vs LLVM.

    • Martin:  Reminder ask for deck

    • [Martin]GCC bankend for GOMP - What toolchain was used?

      • [Paul] 2 - GCC version 5.3 Fedora? And GCC 7 from gitmaster

    • [Martin] What did you focus on during testing

      • [Paul] C++ Lulesh and C. No results from Fortran e.g fortran benchmarks. The results suggest the language does not matter

      • Suspect we can achieve libomp results with GOMP but suspect it will require substantial change in GOMP. Risk if we move towards

    • [Larry] genomics: Underlying analysis fits to that market. Agrees that we should work on this. It’s fits into the detail we had discussed

    • Takeharu: unable to comment,

    • Steve: Agree it’s one to work on but hard to prioritise based on what else needs to be considered

    • @Kanta to follow up with the toolchain team to scope and identify resourcing needs and risks

  • HPC Prioritisation heads up

    • All in agreement to get the ball rolling

    • Target to have all the prioritisation in before BUD17 face to face meeting so that we end the meeting with clear agreement on the engineering path.

    • @Kanta to email out.

  • AOB

    • BUD17 is round the corner

    • HPC SIG meeting on Wednesday 8th 1pm

    • HPC Tutorial run by ARM on Thursday 10am

    • Other HPC related sessions. Schedule is online
